Dentures

Four implants can support a full denture.

Dentures are removable dental appliances designed to replace missing teeth and restore both function and appearance.

They come in two main types: complete dentures, which replace all teeth in the upper or lower arch, and partial dentures, which fill in gaps left by a few missing teeth while preserving the remaining natural teeth. Crafted from high-quality acrylic or metal materials, dentures are custom-made to fit comfortably and securely in your mouth, providing a natural-looking smile.

In addition to improving appearance, dentures help with chewing, speaking, and maintaining facial structure, giving you back the confidence and comfort to enjoy everyday activities.

Process:

  1. Initial Consultation and Assessment: The process begins with a comprehensive dental examination and consultation with your dentist. During this appointment, your dentist will assess your oral health, discuss your needs and preferences, and determine whether complete or partial dentures are the best option for you. Your dentist will also take X-rays and impressions of your mouth to ensure a precise and customized fit for your dentures.
  2. Treatment Planning and Design: Based on the assessment, your dentist will create a treatment plan and design your dentures to match the shape, size, and color of your natural teeth, ensuring a natural appearance. If you require extractions of any remaining teeth, these will be scheduled prior to the denture fitting.
  3. Tooth Extraction (if necessary): If any teeth need to be removed to make way for complete dentures, extractions will be performed. Depending on your situation, immediate dentures may be placed right after the extractions, or you may need to wait for your gums to heal, which can take several weeks to a few months.
  4. Impressions and Measurements: Your dentist will take detailed impressions of your mouth to create a precise model for the fabrication of your dentures. Measurements of your jaw and bite will also be taken to ensure that the dentures align correctly and fit comfortably.
  5. Denture Try-In: A trial set of dentures, often made of wax, will be created and tried on in your mouth to check for fit, comfort, and appearance. During this stage, adjustments can be made to the shape, color, and size of the teeth to match your desired look and ensure a natural feel. You and your dentist will work together to achieve the perfect fit before the final dentures are made.
  6. Fabrication of Final Dentures: Once the trial dentures are approved, the final dentures will be crafted in a dental laboratory using high-quality materials that mimic the appearance of natural teeth and gums. This process typically takes a few weeks, and your dentist will notify you once your dentures are ready.
  7. Fitting and Adjustments: At your final fitting appointment, your dentist will place the finished dentures in your mouth, check for proper fit, and make any necessary adjustments to ensure comfort and functionality. You will be given instructions on how to insert and remove the dentures, as well as tips on how to care for them properly.
  8. Follow-Up and Maintenance: After receiving your dentures, follow-up appointments may be necessary to make further adjustments and ensure that they fit comfortably as your mouth adjusts to the new appliance. It is important to practice proper denture care, including daily cleaning and regular dental check-ups, to maintain the longevity and health of your dentures.

Dentures offer a reliable solution for those who have lost teeth due to aging, disease, or injury, helping to restore confidence, improve oral function, and enhance overall quality of life.
